Meet Our Lead Teacher

Ana Paula is a proud Tica (Costa Rican woman) and the Lead Teacher for this yoga retreat, bringing over 20 years of experience in movement, body awareness, and holistic wellness. Her journey began in contemporary dance and has evolved into a deeply integrative practice that weaves together yoga, therapeutic movement, and bodywork.

Trained at El Barco Conservatory under Costa Rica’s Ministry of Culture, Ana has shared her teaching and artistic work throughout Costa Rica, Latin America, the United States, and Europe. Her approach is shaped by extensive studies in contemporary dance, alternative movement techniques, inclusive pedagogy, and somatic practices.

Ana is a certified inclusive performing arts trainer and a 500+ hour yoga teacher, with over 800 hours of training from respected schools including Kasasana, Yoga Mandir, and Yoga Inclusivo Costa Rica. She is also a certified massage therapist, specializing in Integral Spa Massage and Thai Massage, and is currently pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy.

At the heart of Ana’s teaching is the belief that movement is a human right—meant to be accessible, joyful, and healing. As Lead Teacher, she creates a supportive and embodied retreat experience that invites deep connection, presence, and transformation.

Meet Our Supporting Teacher

Melanie Miller is the Founder of Pratidana Wellness and The Alcohol-Free Advantage Coaching, and serves as the Assistant Yoga Teacher for this retreat, supporting the journey with a deeply compassionate, trauma-informed approach to healing and self-leadership.

She is a RYT-200 Yoga Teacher, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and Alcohol-Free Lifestyle Coach, with a lifelong dedication to wellness, personal training, and holistic healing. Introduced to yoga in 2015 through the physical challenge of arm balances and inversions, Melanie’s practice evolved beyond the physical into a profound exploration of the mind, nervous system, and embodied healing.

As a mental health clinician, Melanie is inspired by the intersection of ancient yogic wisdom and modern psychology. Her work is non-pathologizing and IFS-informed, emphasizing compassion, curiosity, and self-leadership rather than fixing or forcing change. She works with individuals and groups and facilitates mental health workshops integrating yoga philosophy and therapeutic practices.

Melanie is especially passionate about helping people **reduce the urge to self-medicate—particularly with alcohol—**as a response to stress, overwhelm, or emotional pain. Her work centers on freedom, self-kindness, and non-harming action, supporting sustainable change through alignment rather than willpower.

She is currently pursuing advanced Clinical Facilitator training in Trauma-Informed Yoga Therapy (TIYT™), a program grounded in Polyvagal Theory research by Dr. Stephen Porges. On retreat, Melanie brings a calm, steady, and supportive presence, helping guests reconnect with resilience, inner leadership, and yoga as “a journey of the self, through the self, and to the self.”
